Safety at Miphen

Version 1.0 · Effective October 7, 2026

If you are in danger right now, call 911. If you're thinking about suicide or hurting yourself, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), or text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line). Both are free and open 24/7.

Miph is an AI, not a person, and not a crisis service. Miph can't call for help on your behalf, and no one at Miphen watches conversations as they happen. Miph is not therapy or medical care.

What Miph does if you mention suicide or self-harm

  • Miph takes it seriously, every time, even if it sounds like a joke.
  • Miph shares how to reach 988 and Crisis Text Line, where trained people can talk with you right away.
  • If you might be in danger, Miph asks you to call 911 or 988 now, and asks whether someone can be with you.
  • Miph stays with you in the conversation and keeps encouraging you to reach a real person.
  • Miph drops jokes, sass and spiritual or birth-chart interpretations for the rest of that conversation.
  • Miph never gives information that could be used for self-harm, and never encourages it.
  • If you're worried about someone else, Miph shares how 988 can help you support them.

How we notice

Every message you send Miph and every part of a call is checked automatically for signs of suicide or self-harm risk. The check is based on the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale, a screening method widely used by crisis lines and health professionals. It sorts risk into levels, and the level decides how Miph responds.

Human review

When a conversation shows high risk, a member of the Miphen team is alerted and reviews it, usually the same day and always within 24 hours. Lower-risk conversations are reviewed weekly. Reviews check that Miph responded the right way and help us improve it. This is not monitoring in real time, and it is not emergency help.

Age

Miphen is for adults 18 and older. AI companions may not be suitable for some minors. If we learn that someone under 18 is using Miph, we close the account.

What we report

California law requires us to report each year to the state's Office of Suicide Prevention how many times Miph shared crisis resources and how this protocol works. Reports contain counts only, never names, phone numbers or conversations.
